Home to Louisiana's National Guard, the place is rumored to be haunted by the first Sgt. Henry Brunig, who killed himself here in 1937. Stories say Brunig used to assist with the care of the horses, and pronounced 21 of them too old and unfit to work, so they were shot to death. Brunig's body was found the next day. Witnesses have spotted the apparitions of soldiers at night, and night workers have heard water running, doors slamming and toilets flushing when no one is around.
