Woodland Plantation
Port Sulphur, LA 70083
This plantation dates back to 1834 and was transformed into a bed and breakfast in 1999. It is rumored to be haunted by a couple of spirits, including Braddish Johnson, who has been spotted wearing stripe pants and a silk hat, carrying a gold-tipped cane; a young boy who vanishes whenever he is approached; and two women and a man who appear on the first floor. The ghosts of former slaves have also been seen in Spirits Hall (how ironic!)

Off-season I was the only person staying in the main house. I was awakened in the middle of the night by a scream which sounded like it was right in my room. They said "Wake up!" Thinking it was a nightmare I went back to sleep after thoroughly looking around the room to make sure nobody was in the room. While trying to get back to sleep something "nudged" my head, as if to wake me up.
Immediately got up, turned on all lights, packed and left. Beautiful place, excellent service and staff but will never stay there again. Just not my kind of thing.
