The Gothic Jail of DeRidder, also known as "The Hanging Jail," is rumored to be haunted by the two men who were hanged for murdering their cab driver. The two men, Molton Brasseaux and Joe Genna, hired the driver, killed him, and dumped his body in the old Pickering Mill pond. When the body was found, the two men were convicted and hanged from the third floor gallows. Visitors can check out the noose that still hangs to this day, along with an underground tunnel that allowed prisoners to get to the courthouse next door. The jail has even been featured on The Travel Channel.
