Big Woods Cemetery

When I was in high school me and 3 friends of mine went around 9-10 Pm. When we went in the gate was wide open, we were trying to get to the newer side but there was someone/ something blocking the road. Once we realized we couldn't pass the said thing we tried to back up which led us to getting stuck, so stuck we were burried in mud. We heard a baby crying and looked around but could not find anything. We had to call friends to come pull us out and when they arrived the gate was shut and LOCKED! It is something I will never forget!!

In 2008 when I lived in Dequincy, my boyfriend at the time along with another couple when to Big woods after dark. It really was creepy because the feeling was tense In the air, I'm not the one to shy away from things like this, I'm usually to first one go on these adventures. I had a weird feeling and wanted to go back to my car. I had this car for 9 months before this incident happened. Me and the other girl locked ourselves in car while the boys explored, when they got back, I unlocked the door and it locked back, I thought maybe my bf had his hand on the handle causing it to lock back when I yelled for him to move his from the door. With his hands above his head. Every single time I unlocked the door it locked back automatically, at that point I was legit scared. Like I said I had car 9 months before incident and a year after and that was the only time the car ever did that, paranormal or just coincidence?

I've been a few times a few years back, personally only got orbs, pictures of spirits, and heard voices other then me and my aunts. my mother has had something chase her before her getting to her car and leaving she says it follows her to this day. most definitely haunted and it's a must visit for people wanting a scare. most active at night. the outskirts of the cemetery you can see eyes looking at you also pretty creepy.

All of my family are buried there. Back in 2008 June, I went there to take pictures. My camera picked up what I believe to be a spirit possibly trying to manifest itself. I'm 56 now I've been going there since I was a kid and have heard stories since I was little.i do believe there is paranormal going on in Big Woods cemetery. Not everyone will experience anything there, I think they pick and choose who to show themselves to.

I go to this cemetery almost everyday and smoke weed. I go in the mornings or at night. Not even one creepy thing has ever happened. I went on Halloween and smoked a blunt and went to the center of the cemetery where the oldest graves are ( oldest grave I’ve found is 1867) , not a damn thing happened. I fucking love this cemetery tho it’s so chill. I’m a scared ass bitch too so I wish it was haunted or something but it’s totally not.

Very dark and creepy. When I went (a long time ago, probably 10+ years) there were several stone sarcophagi open and broken on the outskirts as if the caretakers had left them there...there was probably a good reason but it sure was spooky to see in the middle of the night!

No paranormal experiences, but it's a nice, medium-sized cemetery to visit.
