This courthouse is believed to be haunted by Toni Jo McQuiston (born Annie Beatrice McQuiston), a murderess and only female to die in Louisiana’s electric chair. Toni was into drugs and prositution, until she fell in love with Claude Henry (nicknamed Cowboy), and she got clean. The two married and shortly after, Cowboy was arrested on murder charages and sentenced to 50 years in prison. Toni Jo stole a getaway car with a friend of hers, in hopes to busy Cowboy out of prison. They murdered the owner of the car, and dumped his body in a ditch - later bragging about the incident and getting sentenced to death at the courthouse. Witnesses have heard her ghost whispering, and sometimes screaming. Her perfume has also been smelled, along with the sounds of her footsteps.
